IPD Anti-Sway Bars removed

How will the rig behave without the IPD's is the big question I'm trying to answer for myself. The sway-bars were added long ago during a trip to Buskirk (Senior) in Sandusky.

A few years ago I changed to the four-bagger system and had not really given any thought to the bars. Only after seeing some traffic on the topic on the GMC Mailing List did the wheels (mine) start to turn re I wonder how the rig would behave without the bars?

This is phase one of that experiment, the removal.

In case you're wondering what the PVC pipe is doing under there, it's hose storage from the macerator. The hose is permanently attached to the Macerator.

All gone,  but fittings etc. stayed in place on the coach to facilitate an easy re-install.

Well... spent the day out and about. - Phase two of this experiment.

Did a Langley --> Bellingham ( I-5 ) --> Sumas --> Abottsford --> Langley loop. The I-5 portion gave us a sampling of the concrete heebie jeebies and the secondary roads had some construction and the Trans-Canada had some good ol' 18-Wheeler tracks grooved in.

Overall the experiment was very encouraging though not totally conclusive yet. What I mean by that is that it's really hard to compare on this single trip but that there was enough improvement apparent to leave the bars off for the next trip.

My comparing is nothing scientific as it's simply seat-of-the-pants observations, literally, but I did have some help. My Sony screen vibrated a little less. Same with some window rattles I've been putting up with. The rough concrete stretches of I-5 seemed a little more tolerable and all that without having to move the steering wheel to chase a wiggle or a waggle.

While it's too early to make a lasting decision, as in not enough miles yet, the interim decision is to leave the IPD bars off for now.

The Verdict after a 1700 mile shakedown cruise: The bars are staying off and going into long-term storage. A few miles on gravel made the final decision. I used to crawl on gravel but after a few miles on gravel during the shakedown cruise it was much more tolerable than before. I would go so far as saying that if you are thinking stabilizer bars, think four-bagger first.

I'm putting mine into storage instead of offering them for sale as it would be too much effort to remove all fittings and you never know, I might change my mind.
