Our Moses Lake trip

The Moses Lake FMCA rally was our excuse to do a little traveling before the real summer season started. Figured that it would still be relatively easy to get camping space on a whim rather by reservation. The real reason for the trip was to get some quiet time to do some technical writing in the form of a user manual for our Tracker software package. Seems there is never enough quiet time for it at the office.

The trip started with a visit to Kamloops to do some onsite work and then on to the Okanogan on the way to Moses Lake.

A little side trip on what's left of the Kettle River Railway at Summerland, BC

Haynes Point Provincial Park, Osoyoos Lake. We stayed a couple of days at Haynes and got started on our documentation project while enjoying the calming effect of Osoyoos Lake. It was out first multi-day dry-camp since doing the new Trojan batteries and I figured that we'd need 2-3 hours of daily genset time to get the batteries up to full charge again after a day/night of dry-camping. We could probably last longer if we limited TV and computer use but that would be defeating the whole scheme of things.
We crossed into Washington early enough to allow for a leisure ride to Moses Lake. We stayed one night en-route and arrived at Moses Lake the day before the FMCA rally started.
The GMC lineup is getting bigger as the day progresses. Whether by design or luck, the GMC's had the prime pasture at Moses Lake. Thank You.
The food dispensing area.
Barbeques, Moses Lake style.
Food lineup. Food management was excellent. From the what to the how it was all numero uno and then some. Just plain excellent all the way around.
The Cascaders parade entries.
Another Parade participant.
While heading for the Coast we stopped at the toy store in Portland (Fry's) and picked up a few goodies like the Samsung flat screen monitor/TV and a small footprint PC with wireless keyboard. Did some temporary assembly to try it out during the rest of the trip.
After Portland we made for Cannon Beach. The trip had been pure delight thus far but it was about to take a turn towards a nasty. We were starting to lay a trail of smoke... Transmission fluid leaking out and hitting the mufflers. Click on the picture or this link for the full story.

Fort Canby State Park, WA.

Stumbled on to a Forest Service campground along 101. A Tenter and ourselves were all that was there for the night. Don't try it in a Prevost.

Fathers Day breakfast in the Hide-away.
Some folks just can't leave their work at home, others can't afford to . Actually the plan was all along to find some quiet time and a place to get started on a software documentation project.
Lyre River on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Boarded the Ferry at Port Angeles, WA for Victoria, BC. Decided to try Vancouver Island as we were still searching for our spot on the ocean. Destination: Tofino.
