The 2002 Cascader Rally in (near) the Tulip Fields

Tulips and people galore.

Had a good time. Even though we've owned our Coach for many years, It was our first rally.

Thanks again to all the Cascaders for allowing us to participate and for making us feel welcome. Have asked for a membership application as we'd like to do it again.

Actually I wondered if we'd ever get to it as when I turned the key... nothing. Somebody must've left the battery combiner on manual off override. Must've been the cat.

I knew I was due for batteries... and that clinched it but first we had to make it to the rally. Thanks to a boost from the automobile club we were only an hour late with our departure. An on time departure would've probably got through the border a little quicker but as it was, it wasn't too bad. Thirty minutes to the booth and another ten minutes for USDA inspection of the meager rations we had on board. Not too bad but sure not like it used to be. Oh well.

After the mandatory stop at the grocery store for food and beer we were on our way.

Ride was noticeably better with the reduced tire pressures.

We were greeted with our very own tulip plant, which unfortunately we had to cut before crossing the border again but they are still blooming at home.

After getting settled in, a little get acquainted stroll was in order.

Just one row It was fun to see and meet other GMC'ers. Close to fifty coaches attended the rally. So many nice paint jobs. Thankfully there were some with paint status similar to ours. Made us feel less alone in that department.
Having had more than our share of rain this winter the lawn was a little soggy. A few spinning tires but nothing serious.
The Cascaders seem a good bunch. They even allow SOBs (ex GMC'ers) to remain in the club. Very nice.
Our immediate neighbors.
Tulip grid-lock.
Tulips, tulips and more tulips.
These folks know how to put on a spread. After visiting the tulips an excellent buffet topped off the day. Don't know if the draw was fixed, but Louise was very happy to receive one of the many door prizes that were given out.

Of course I was having so much fun.... I forgot about paying attention to the engine batteries. I usually run my power supply at its lower setting and since we were using lights etc. in the living area there wasn't enough voltage to close the Combiners so no charging to the engine batteries.

Thankfully the Cascaders are prepared and my period of neglect gave Wagonmaster Larry a chance to try out their new self-contained battery booster. It works very well. Thank you Larry.

Trip home was standard fare... no long waits at the border. Got home in time to cut the grass.

Looking forward to Moses Lake.
