I used some aluminum tubing in an effort to have sufficient strength without adding too much weight. Heavy duty Velcro is used to attach the mast to the trailer. We’ll have to see how it behaves in a test tow.
Just in case you notice that I’m just using a single nut at the moment. That’s so I can accommodate changing my mind without having to tear too much apart.
Once happy with it all they’ll be replaced with lock-type nuts.
Update:
The antenna setup didn’t survive our summer trip. The velcro didn’t quite do the job I had hoped as it didn’t stay locked. It got bad and worse in a desolate part of Nevada. No hardware store to be found to facilitate some emergency adjustments. Ultimately the bracket broke and I had to dismantle it for the trip home. Haven’t decided yet on a replacement scheme.
